Webster & Bennett Millennium CNC Vertical Turning Centre
Launched in 1996, the Millennium is the flagship range of vertical turning centres we designed and built in the UK at Webster & Bennett. It combines high-speed, high-power precision turning with contour milling, thread milling, drilling, grinding and elliptical turning, all on one machine.
VTT-WB still supports, services and refurbishes Millennium machines today.
What the Millennium can do
The Millennium was designed so one machine could take a large, valuable part through several operations in a single set-up. With a live spindle and C axis, it handles:
- Precision turning of large diameters, including aerospace parts such as a Trent 800 engine casing
- Contour, thread and rotary milling with the live spindle
- Drilling and tapping, including angled holes and tough PCD drilling
- Grinding on the same machine
- Elliptical turning and C-axis machining
World-leading companies bought Millennium machines for important defence and aerospace components. Turning capacity across the range runs from 1000mm to 2200mm diameter.
Example specification: Millennium 3-175/210
| Control | Fanuc 18Ti CNC |
|---|---|
| Axes | 3 axis, with live spindle and C axis |
| Swing | 2100mm |
| Working height | 1200mm |
| Chuck | 1750mm |

Specifications vary by model and build. Other Millennium machines include the 3-120/150 and the 3E-125/150, and some were built with the Siemens 840D control. Ask Iain for the details of a particular machine.
